Today the Windows 7 Upgrade Path documents has been released by Microsoft. You can download it here. The documtens outlines supported and unsupported upgrade paths for Windows 7 SKU’s.

Unsupported Upgrade Scenarios

  1. Upgrades to Windows 7 from the following operating systems is not supported:
  • Windows 95 – Windows XP, Windows Vista Starter, Windows 7 M3/Beta/RC
  • Windows NT Server 4.0, Window Server 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
  1. Upgrades from x86 to x64
  2. Upgrades from one language to another (from nl-nl to en-us)
  3. Upgrades from Windows Vista to Windows 7 N, Windows 7 K, Windows 7 KN or Windows 7 E
